"Free Kent TV?"
Kent is the only county in the Country to have an Internet Television Station
In the lyrics of the old Everly Brothers song "Radio & TV are Free" though are not the case here
Costing £600,000 to set up & £1.4 million to run over the next 2 years. It's funded by Kent County Council (KCC) in other words Kent Taxpayers money
Winning the bid to run the station Bob Geldof of Ten Alps PLC argues it's neither an Internet News Service nor a Website for KCC rather, a great tool for democracy!
Questions in Parliament that KCC abused their powers setting up the station, whilst at the same time increasing home care charges for the elderly the have been hotly denied
KCC say that at the end of the 2 year period the service will have paid for itself, & if correct will revolutionise the way they communicate
Kent TV clips are sharp, nicely produced & informative, which you'd expect so it's easy to see where the money's going
Despite all, since KCC are paymasters of Kent TV it's not actually Free in any sense is it
17/05/08 - Did you see that kent TV are moving from Vintners Park TV Studios?
They've found like Caroline that since 'Tricia' started being produced in Maidstone prices have gone sky high. Makes me laugh the station paid for by Kent County Council i.e the taxpayer is launching 15 new channels, it's going to be easier to navigate & submit your own material & films
Saying 6 months after it began, Kent TV now understand what people want; there's to be an information, food, what's on & local history, obvious stuff really & its four viewers should be delighted - Peter Mason
