"Something's Wrong!"
Ofcom aren't helping local radio with its relaxation of the rules
We're seeing more programme sharing, less stringent governing of local output & in consequence the dear old 'local listener' losses out again

Whilst corporate radio brands cart blanch do almost as they please, a rod of iron rules the new community stations
It's said that some of the rules will be relaxed i.e. the percentage of sponsorship and advertising
Many of the new wave of stations are non-profit making, but are disciplined to provide a very high level of local content in rules, like the old 'promise of performance' criteria
Hang on wasn’t that why Local Radio was originally conceived, now it’s down to 'poor' Community Radio & temporary licence holders to fill the void and provide the expensive service something most are hard pressed to achieve!
Something's gone very
wrong

29/01/10 - 1 subject 1 link absolutely right it's such a shame about the networking of local stations, you may have seen that where we live North Norfolk Radio and Radio Norwich are now merging in the same way. I suspect the whole Tindle Group will be networked before the years out, with just local breakfast shows - Nick
