"Non-Music Music Radio"
I don't want to BEEB bash but turn on Radio 1 in the morning and you'll hear Moyles and his cronies setting to with non-stop chat. Tune in on a Sunday for more back-to-back chat, film reviews and self-opinionated dribble

Radio 2 is similarly drifting down the same course; self centred presenters and celebrities hell bent on sharing their life history with us. All this padding out our so-called National music radio stations conceived to replace the outlawed Offshore stations

The BBC locals must be mentioned here as just like Radio 2 they're a completely different entity at the weekends; gardening and knitting circles haven't died! To date a contract job at the BBC is deal for life when many presenters should have been shown the door eons ago
Let's underline the fact and say it's time to remind the BBC that the National entertainment (music) radio stations were initiated filling the gap left after the Government had scuppered the pirates
A very unhappy national listener - 'Capricorn', Cornwall
03/09/10 - The trouble is that national radio gets listensers by default, you can hear it the length and bredth of the UK without to re-tuning. Local ILR has tried without much success to duplicate the formula with their brand groups. The old Virgin was closest we got to having a sensible station - Karen Mauche

- I could not agree more with unhappy of 'Capricorn'. I have been banging
on about this for years. My article on this on an AA survey that Radio 2 came
out as top national station, because it's got no competition that's why! But
good news Smooth based in London is easy listening & the nearest thing
to the 60's pirate stations. It's on 102.2 in London and it is national now
on DAB and said it's going national on FM. If they do it right they could
knock Radio 2 for 6!!!

* Smooth is a group brand and is consolidating it's operation and is consolidating it's operation to a handful of locations, Global is set to follow the same pattern - Ed
