The Definitive Series of Booklets; The Tongue Sand Fort from inception, grounding in June 1942, WWII use & abandonment in 1943 as it wobbled & structure fell into the sea making it unstable 23 years later Tongue was pillaged by Pirates from Radio Essex who scavenged equipment parts & scrap copper to survive In 1992 Tongue had its 3.7" guns pulled for display at Scapa Flow. Eventually the Fort gave up to the elements, toppling into the sea in a great overnight storm in February 1996
