23/10/07 - Just to let you know that the Maunsell book arrived today in perfect condition. Many thanks for your kind assistance. Yes, I do live quite a few miles away, got so fed up with the decline in the quality of life in the U.K. (I lived in the City of London close to St. Paul’s Cathedral for 26 years). I certainly made the best decision coming here to Simon’s Town, which has a lovely Victorian British aura to it, a real pleasure, & best of all a long way from Tony Bliar's Bottler Brown!! When I read about UK petrol hovering around GBP 1.00 per litre, & the projected population in 20 years time, I just cannot understand what is going on. Back in the 1960’s I lived at Harwich, remember meeting Paul Noble at the Dovercourt Pavilion dance venue (now long since bulldozed). I also did a stint aboard the Cheetah II as relief (marine) engineer whilst she was under arrest and at anchor in the river Stour at Harwich.... it all seems such a long time ago. Happy days! Best regards,David Erickson, Simon's Town, Republic of South Africa
Excellent work, a concise history of the man & his company
