Life Live on Red Sands Radio

(c) Bob Le-Roi
Red Sands G1 Tower

The first transmission in 40 years & the 1st that used an original Offshore Radio base. "From the Coast to the City" the station played the "Best of Yesterday & Today" & included a salute to the early offshore broadcasters by former offshore DJ's interspersed with re-sung PAMS jingles. This programme "Life Live on Red Sands Radio" took listeners on a tour of the Fort from the landing stage to the top, the actual Tower used by Radio Invicta when it began in June 1964 giving a unique insight to living & working on the Fort from WWII through to the 1960's stations, Invicta, KING, Radio 390 & now as home of Red Sands Radio. The programme ends with Peter Chicago & Bob Le-Roi swimming off the Fort, an occurrence not heard since Brian Poole took the plunge of Shivering Sands & broadcast on Radio Sutch in 1964
